New York Yankees slugger Derek Jeter has promised girlfriend Minka Kelly he’ll propose during Baseball’s off-season,the Enquirer has learned.

The couple were originally planning to get engaged this fall,but all bets were off once the Yankees made it to the World Series against the Philidelphia Phillies. Derek says he didn’t want to make any major life changes while his team were doing so well.

”Derek is very much in love with Minka, and he thinks she has been a good luck charm since they started dating” says a source close to the couple.”And while he had an MVP caliber season with her at his side,Derek felt getting engaged and announcing it might effect his play in the series.”
”The last thing Derek wanted was for the news of his walk down the aisle with Minka to overshadow or affect the Yankees” As a result Derek told the stunning star of Friday Night Lights that she would have to wait a bit for the proposal. Derek told her ”Wait until we’re finished with the Phills – I’d never be the same if I messed things up for the team’.”

”Minka was disappointed but said she understood,and when Derek said Win or lose,we’re getting married’-she was thrilled.

While the couple has been dating since May 2008,things really heated up this summer.
‘Derek’s family is especially fond of Minka and thinks she’s very down to Earth’ says the source ”And her father is delighted too-both families have given thumbs up to the marriage’.’
